In the aftermath of a tragic boiler-related incident at its Unit-1 plant in Singhitarai, Vedanta Power has announced the completion of full compensation to the families of the deceased and injured workers, reaffirming its commitment to continued support.

The incident, which occurred last week, involved the release of pressurised hot water and steam, impacting 35 workers present at the site. The operations and maintenance of the unit were being handled by NGSL
According to the company, financial assistance of ₹35 lakh has been provided to the families of the deceased, along with efforts to facilitate employment opportunities. Injured workers have received ₹15 lakh each. The compensation has been disbursed to all 35 affected individuals and families.
Vedanta Power has also committed to supporting the education of children of the deceased up to Class 12 and offering skill development programs for family members through its training centres.
Expressing deep sorrow, CEO Rajinder Singh Ahuja said the company stands firmly with the affected families and is prioritising medical care for the injured. He added that Vedanta, along with NGSL, is fully cooperating with authorities investigating the cause of the incident.
Immediately after the mishap, emergency protocols were activated, operations were isolated, and the site was secured. The injured were rushed to hospitals in Raigarh, Kharsia, and Raipur. A central crisis management team was also set up to oversee response measures.
The company stated it is ensuring comprehensive care, including free medical treatment, continued salaries for injured workers, counselling services, and logistical support for families such as accommodation and food.
Several affected families and workers acknowledged the support. Injured worker Ganesh Kumar Sahu said all his medical expenses were covered, while family members of other injured workers praised the company’s continuous presence and assistance during treatment.
To provide ongoing support, Vedanta Power has established a 24×7 helpline, “Vedanta Samvedna Kendra,” offering assistance and updates to affected families. Onsite counsellors have also been deployed to address trauma and mental health concerns.
The company extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and emphasised its commitment to transparency, accountability, and improved safety measures moving forward.
